Phantom Abyss is a trek into a lost and trap-filled temple that constantly has you on your toes. Each room is filled with several ways to die, or at least take a good amount of damage, and the constant pressure from the guardian means you have to think while moving. While there's something to be said for tearing through the level at top speed, the rooms are frequently interesting enough that it would be nice to stop and look around for a minute without being pushed forward.

Phantom Abyss is played single-player, and the ‘ghosts’ represent previous player attempts and are not people currently playing the game. Phantom Abyss is not a Fall Guys-style game where everyone plays at the same time.

Say hello to the most limited movement option in the game. A high-jump sounds good on paper, but in most situations, your whip (especially with Long Whip or Double Jump) will get you as high as you need to be.

And don't forget, that if you get reset to the front of a room because of a crush or fall, then the guardian is that much closer, or possibly where you will respawn and thus it will end your run.

Phantom Abyss is a massive asynchronous multiplayer game that casts players into procedurally-generated temples and tasks them with retrieving the sacred relics hidden within deadly chambers. Intrepid adventurers will dodge scores of hidden traps, leap treacherous chasms, and flee relentless guardians through branching paths until one of the relics are claimed or the devices of death overwhelm them. Be warned, you only get one attempt at each temple and failure or settling for a lesser relic means you will never see that temple again... The cleverest players will use the phantom runs of failed attempts from other players to their advantage and avoid the missteps and mistakes that led to their doom. Asynchronous Multiplayer Explore the perilous halls and colossal rooms of each temple alongside the phantoms of fallen players that came before you.

However, your character has some tricks at their disposal to help them through each level. Most of your skills are athletic — your character can sprint, crouch, slide and perform a dash move to help complete a jump. They also have an Indiana Jones

As you play though each level, you’ll be faced with challenging enemies and collect powerful loot. The more you play, the more powerful you will become!

Banishing Whip serves a similar function to Calm, but can be used in more situational circumstances. With this blessing, striking a Guardian with your whip will prevent them from spawning for thirty seconds. Use this time wisely!

Each temple run is a blind charge through a procedurally generated funhouse murder dungeon. These dungeons range in challenge from ‘leisurely, unhurried jog’ to ‘holy shit what the fuck’. Traps include everything from spike walls to bottomless pits, whirling blades Phantom Abyss Game and flying bombs, falling blocks and poison darts, and more. Depending on the level, there might even be a chance for an enemy to spawn, a protector of the temple’s treasure that harries the players at every turn.
